Mind’s Eye (Week of my 3rd Eye Chakra)

Its been a beautiful week of expression! It just so happens that everything that’s happened this week has been in perfect alignment with living for my throat chakra. I’ve found that it’s not so easy to really eat for this chakra, not many ‘blue’ foods out there, especially according to the season we’re currently in. But that’s perfectly fine, because I’ve been eating foods like persimmon which grow on trees and soaking myself in epsom salt baths and adding Himalayan salt to most of my food dishes. Ive also ordered myself some kelp to add to my smoothies (lovely sea food! Read my previous blog on the Foods for Throat Chakra , it’s not only foods in frequency of the colour blue!)

But this week, I’ve mostly been focused on how to express myself and funny enough, I had a public talk last week and another one coming up this week. As everything in the universe, all in divine order and timing.

I feel that I’m merging my weeks into each other, going with a beautiful flow of eating and living for my chakras and in turn restoring energy and balance to my energetic centres all at the same time. And this is what it’s meant to be like, right? Its meant to flow altogether. So with that, I’ll still be focusing on my throat for the next week but also starting my journey for my third eye chakra. A very very precious and powerful energy centre.

For me, this is the all seeing eye, that once awakened, can see into and feel into our other dimensions, other realities. I’ve been feeling very euphoric lately, as if every experience is happening through me, and not just to me. I’ve been working on my 3rd eye for months now, it’s mostly a conscious awareness of the energy centre than anything else, a very spiritual awareness. I focus on this centre during meditation, visualisation, it’s where all my dreams come from, my focus on the present, its my link between my mind and the outer world. This is the chakra that helps us cut through illusions, see things as they are (provided this centre is open and awake), make decisions with clarity and see right through judgement.

An imbalanced 3rd eye (can either be under active or overactive) can cause a person to be very judgemental and even delusional, may cause dizziness, headaches and brain lesions. A closed 3rd eyes can cause depression and even addictive behavior.

What foods to eat to balance this chakra:

  • Purple foods: blackberries, red grapes, blueberries, eggplants, purple kale, purple cabbage and purple sweet potatoes
  • Omega 3-rich foods: sardines, salmon, walnuts, flaxseeds and chia seeds all contain high levels of Omega 3’s which are perfect for boosting brain power and balancing the third-eye chakra
  • Cacao: increases mental clarity and causes the body to release serotonin

What to do to open your 3rd eye:

Meditation. Start your mediation practice with focusing on your 3rd eye. Keep your eyes closed, roll them up to see your inner eye (the spot between your brows) and focus on that spot. At first this is quite uncomfortable but when you allow the flow of energy to go to that centre, you’ll soon feel vibrations of energy and feel a lot of light flowing to that spot, this is the awakening of your 3rd eye. When you do this regularly, you begin to open this eye which helps you live a life of peace and joy instead of a life focused on making decisions with the brain. The brain cannot comprehend things like love and decisions, we must learn to see with the 3rd eye and think with the heart, the world would be a much more beautiful place, wouldn’t you say so?
